The Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count Foundation was born out of a life well-lived. Army Specialist Spencer C. Duncan was living his dream of making a difference in this world when he was killed in action on August 6, 2011. Since 2012, the foundation has held an annual 5K event to honor and remember Spencer’s sacrifice and to raise funds to assist veterans. Donations are changing the lives of veterans by supporting programs that provide assistance with education, mental health, reintegration and meeting needs for food, housing and basic services.
This year the 10th annual Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count 5k will be held Saturday, July 31st at 8:00 AM. Runners can try for a personal best on the flat course that starts and ends near the Army Reserve unit at the New Century Airport where Spencer’s unit is still based. Recreational runners and walkers who want to come out and support the cause will also enjoy our course, the patriotic venue and visiting with partner organizations who will be onsite for the event. One of the most compelling experiences at our event is the opportunity to walk through a Chinook helicopter that includes a memorial to all 31 heroes who gave their lives for our country on August 6, 2011.
The run will start at 8:00 AM on Saturday July 31st, near the Army Reserve Unit at New Century Airport. Once you arrive on New Century Parkway near the airport, you will be directed to our ample parking areas and shuttle service to and from the course area will be available starting at 6:30 AM. Please visit MakeItCountToday.org to register for the 5K and to learn more about how we MAKE IT COUNT.
